Eugene Marlow's Heritage Ensemble releases another superb instrumental Jazz CD, "A Fresh Take." Marlow, who is a composer, arranger, and pianist, has written over 200 classical and jazz compositions and his talents are endless. He also has a cast of highly talented musicians who come from a diversity of cultures and merge together to perform magnetic Jazz songs relating to the Hebrews language and culture. You will be hooked when you hear the first track, "Hatikva," as it has a sensational groove and this quintet takes this melody to thought provoking heights. "Bilbililos," is a song featuring a stunning piano melody cascading around the rhythmic bass riff. The track, "Adon Olam," features a lovely female voice that sweetly swirls around the percussive beats. The last song, "Avinu Malkeinu," has a powerful punch with its vivacious and endearing melody that makes you want to hear more from this talented ensemble. If you like exquisite instrumental Jazz music that incorporates the Hebraic culture, then the magnificent album, "A Fresh Take," is one you will thoroughly enjoy.
