"Double Vision" by David Essig and Rick Scott (Folk Artist from British Columbia, Canada)

David Essig and Rick Scott have written a fantastic country/blues album with their release of "Double Vision." Both musicians' individual talents combine for a classic sound and all lovers of that old-time country blues sound is going to want to own this album. The moment the lush harmonies on "Willie P" wash over you, there is no doubt in your mind that this record is going to be amazing. Essig, a well known guitarist, shows off his skills quite nicely on tracks such as "Little Cross to Bear" and "Louisiana Mind." Scott's vocals are also well done on this record and naming just one or two songs as highlights just wouldn't do him justice. His vocal tone screams of J.J. Cale and has a mature, rootsy vibe to it. This album, "Double Vision," is a must have for any lover of old country blues!

"Lunatic Binge" by Crimson Faced (Hard Rock Artist from Pennsylvania(PA))

If Trent Reznor and Scott Weiland ever decided to make an album together, the result would most likely sound something like "Lunatic Binge" the recently released CD by Crimson Faced. Although there are some obvious underlying classic rock tones, the album above all sounds more like a NIN record. The opening track alone, "Pretty People," screams of that genre and pretty much set up the theme of the entire record. Mike E.T. The Alien (yes- that is his name) delivers Stone Temple Pilot style vocals throughout the disc, as you can hear on "Lost Innocense." Even the guitars have that DeLeo brothers tone to them. If you own STP's "Purple" record, then you will surely want to hear "Lunatic Binge."

"Well Respected" by Alumni (Rap Artist from Georgia(GA))

Rapper Alumni delivers a solid batch of hip-hop with his debut record, "Well Respected." Alumni's background is much different from that of your normal hip-hop star. Alumni has a Bachelor's in biology and a Master's in education, making him one of the most book smart rappers anyone has ever heard of. Education aside, Alumni has clearly perfected his craft as he easily fits in with the likes of Jay-Z. Need proof? Take a listen to "I'm There" or "The Answer," two standout tracks that deserve to be heard. Also, Alumni take's his listeners for a hardcore reality trip on "Strugglin'." "2D Tune" by 2D Tune (Electronica Artist from Pennsylvania(PA))

Attention all electronica fans! Get yourselves ready for 70 minutes of pulsating trance music with the self titled CD "2D Tune" by 2D Tune. From the opening synth chords and raging drum beats of "Arise," any fan of this genre knows they are in for a treat. The mixture of pulse, electronic, and chill music makes for some interesting themes. It is also great to hear various vocal cuts splayed throughout different tracks, as heard on "Pain Reliever." There is also a very mysterious setting going on in "King of Kings," but don't be afraid to listen to that one alone in the dark. "2D Tune" is a very well written record and can be enjoyed by music lovers who would not normally buy a trance CD.

"Burden of Proof" by Jenuine J.A. (Rap Artist from San Francisco, California(CA))

Jenuine J.A.'s latest rap record "The Burden of Proof" is a great throwback to the early sounds of that genre. Jenuine isn't exactly a hip-hop artist as his songs rely more on his lyrics and the instrumentation than just beats. The opening track, "Dyin' to Floss" says it all, as you can hear how Jenuine wants his words to be heard and not lost under a sea of electronic drums. His struggle to be heard is evident throughout the disc as he lets listeners in on his personal hurdles in becoming a successful rap star. Just listen to "What's Your Plan?" and you will feel what he has gone through. The title of "The (Lost) Art of Storytellin'" is a truthful statement about where most rap songs are at today. They rely more on abusive lyrics, instead of just telling a story. If you want to hear rap music the way it should be done, you won't be disappointed when you hear "The Burden of Proof."

"Morning Grooves" by Alessandro Bottura (Jazz Artist from Italy)

Jaco Pastorius would be proud to hear the bass chops of jazz artist Alessandro Bottura. His latest record, "Morning Grooves" is a smooth fusion of rock, jazz, and pop instrumentals all rolled into one amazing sound. Bottura's bass playing speaks for itself and is immediately evident right from the opening track, "Out of Sight." His jazz fueled bass runs fly up and down the neck and are nicely driven by some outstanding guitar/drum work. Bottura changes gears a bit and slow things down on "Sweet Tears," which also highlights his staccato playing skills. Any fan of Jaco Pastorius or of virtuoso bass playing will love this album, plus the band behind Bottura is just as exceptional as he.

"Jambossa" by Stevan Pasero (Jazz Artist from San Francisco, California(CA))

The amazing finger style talents of guitarist Stevan Pasero are undeniable on his latest effort, "Jambossa." The record, an eclectic mix of jazz, flamenco, classical, Brazilian, and tango, also offers listeners some tasty covers to boot. For starters, Pasero takes his aim on Van Morrison's classic "Moondance" and the outcome is brilliant. You also have to listen to his cover of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," it is pretty remarkable. Pasero transforms this classic rock epic into a bouncy, Latin pop song with a jazz infused shuffle, light years away from the original recording. Don't let the covers make you forget just how exceptional a guitarist Pasero is, his talent is superb and his soloing shines through on tracks like "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." If you want to hear some fine guitar playing or like listening to well performed cover songs, "Jambossa" is a safe bet.

"Medley" by Milestone (Trance Artist from Russia)

Easy listening instrumentals are abounding on Milestone's newest record, "Medley." Although the album does have faint hints of 1980's tones (i.e. Philip Glass), the record is quite contemporary and a good listen as well. The opening track, "Towards the Unknown," sets the overall mood and gives a taste of what's to come. A wall of synthesizers and pianos make up most of these rainy day numbers and are sometimes highlighted by some nice guitar fills. A great example of this would be on "In the Memory of Heroes" and "Half-way Behind." Milestone has done a terrific job in choosing the instrumentation wisely as this paints the tone color pallet that "Medley" offers up. This album is a great buy for anyone wanting some relaxing tunes to de-stress to or is just looking for some top notch instrumental music.

"Brother HijinX" by Brother HijinX (Rock Artist from New York City, New York(NY))

Serving up what they call Atmo-Dub-Funk, Brother HijinX delivers that and much more with their latest CD "Brother HijinX." Their self-titled disc is filled with sounds very familiar to that of 311 and other bands of that genre. The vocal styling of Anthony Robustelli is reminiscent of Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman, Anthony Kiedis (same first name says it all.) Highlights of his vocal tracks can be heard on "Chrome" and "Available." There is also some cool, funky guitar work by John Caban on "Available" as well. One of the great things about this disc is the wide number of top session musicians who played on it. With bassists/drummers who played for Govt. Mule, Black Crowes, Rufus Wainright, and Billy Cobham, how can you be let down? All reggae/rock fans will enjoy this record not only for its songwriting, but also for the amazing musicianship that is featured.

"Tybee Tyme" by Gary Lee Tolley (Country Artist from West Virginia(WV))

Gary Lee Tolley is all over the board on his latest record, "Tybee Tyme." Although most of the tracks have that Jimmy Buffet beach flare to them, there are also some nice hints of country and Irish sounds on the album. The seaside themes are most fitting on songs like "Tybee Island" and "I've Got Mexico." Listen to any one of these tracks and you'll swear you're sitting on the sand listening to the waves rolling in. Tolley also features a cover of the Righteous Brothers classic, "Unchained Melody," a song which Gary performs with his own style and grace. Don't forget to check out "Poor Boys Delight" with its calming Celtic vibe. Tolley does offer an eclectic mix on "Tybee Tyme," but any Buffet fan will dig it for sure.

"Mother Earth and Father Time" by Trance Fury (Electronica Artist from North Carolina(NC))

Get ready to hit the clubs when you hear "Mother Earth and Father Time" a recently released CD by Trance Fury. The pulsating rhythms and key synth melodies will no doubt put you in your Friday night dance mood. "Mother Earth" and "Painted Desert" are the selections that really get you moving, as they both feature some great beats and tranced-out bass hits. This album stands alone in the trance genre though as Trance Fury gives listeners a taste of some easy listening style numbers-that is if you can even call a trance CD easy listening. Songs like "Your Savior is Coming" and "Carolina Shore" are pulled way back on the tempo scale and also feature some saturated guitar tones. Although "Mother Earth and Father Time" isn't your average 70 minutes of raving trance CD, it is a great disc and will be loved by any fan of the genre.

"In Season Songs for the Sin Sick Soul" by Harry Smyer (Spiritual Artist from California(CA))

Harry Smyer is a talent that we hope will be heard by the whole world soon enough. His record, "In Season Songs for the Sin Sick Soul," is a tasty mix of 50's soul and southern gospel. Although each song is spiritually themed, this shouldn't stop you from giving this record a good chance if that genre isn't your thing. Smyer's vocals are steeped in the sounds of Sam & Dave or Eddie Kendricks, which is no easy feat. Whether it's "Walk Around Heaven All Day" or "I Got Something Within Me," Smyer consistently delivers a fine performance and will make you wish he was preaching down the street from your house. There is also a beautiful classic gospel cover, "Just a Closer Walk With Thee," which he eloquently puts his own stamp on. Be sure to give a good listen to the fine guitar playing on this record which is very James Burton-esque. Whether you're a gospel fan or just looking for some good soul music, Harry Smyer and his album, "In Season Songs for the Sin Sick Soul," is the way to go.

"A Thousand Songs" by Ric Seaberg (Rock Artist from Portland, Oregon (OR))

Veteran songwriter Ric Seaberg takes listeners for a musical journey through his life and much more on "A Thousand Songs." Overall, Seaberg's songs are very reminiscent of late 70's Jackson Browne, both in his vocal approach and melodies. The Browne influence can be heard throughout the disc, but is most recognizable on "The Queen of Hollywood High" and "In My Daddy's Car." There are also some faint hints of John Lennon and Warren Zevon scattered about as well. Seaberg also touches upon the subject of divorce in songs such as "Make it About Me" and "Smiley Emoticon." His ability to write openly about his life experiences and feelings makes it very easy for any listener to attach themselves to these great songs. Any Jackson Browne or Brian Wilson fan will be spinning "A Thousand Songs" over and over again.

"On Roads" by Tremblay Evans (Folk/Country Artist from Michigan (MI))

Highly influenced by the roots of American music, Tremblay Evans delivers a well polished batch of folk songs on their recent CD "On Roads." This trio's songwriting style reflects the old Americana sounds, by just simply describing everyday life and what we all go through. The overall band tone also has a great 60's throwback sound and only features guitar, harmonica, banjo and mandolin. "Love Isn't Enough" is a standout track that eloquently mixes the writing style of Woody Guthrie and the vocal impressions of Buddy Holly. Another notable track is "The Coming Up and Going Down," a song that tells the tale of the average person and what transpires throughout their life. "On Roads" is a perfect listen for anyone who enjoys the classic folk sounds of the 1960's.

"Boston Manor" by Jonny Boston (Jazz/Pop Artist from the Netherlands)

Musician extraordinaire, Jonny Boston, shines on his newest disc, "Boston Manor." Don't let the common Boston theme throw you, Jonny hails from London not Massachusetts and his writing style very much reflects his native area. "Boston Manor" sounds like a record that any top notch jazz singer would have put out, but with an English accent to boot. Hints of that genre can be found on songs like "Star" and "Hold Your Head Up High." There are also some hints of The Beatles on "Ocean Breeze," with its playful melody and great organ work. Not to be out done by his fantastic band, Boston Tea Party, Jonny is also a magnificent saxophonist and it shows. Pick up "Boston Manor" if you find yourself craving some classic jazz or another great British import.

"Arcadia - A Return To Distant Lands" by Rick Devin (Electronica/Ambient Artist from Brazil)

Combining ambient, instrumental, lounge, and world music seems like a lot, but Rick Devin doesn't seem to think so. His latest collection of alluring instrumentals on, "Arcadia – A Return To Distant Lands" is a wonderful compilation of mood setting music. There are a vast number of musical influences on this disc, ranging from African world to rock and roll. One highlight is the song "Alpheus River," which sounds as if could have been penned by none other than Carlos Santana with is stinging guitar licks. Another great feature on this disc is the use of several types of instruments, just give "Karma" a few spins and you'll hear an assortment of ethnic sounds. There is also a bit of Spanish flare in the title track "Arcadia," featuring more exotic guitar work. "Arcadia– A Return To Distant Lands" is a great addition to the collection of any fan who enjoys ideal ambient instrumental music.

"Let It Go" by Fishing With Dynamite (Country Artist from Georgia (GA))

Charlie Daniels once said "The South's Gonna Do it Again" and it very much has with the recently released CD, "Let it Go" by the country rock group Fishing With Dynamite. The Southern Rock genre has had a gaping hole in it every since the tragic lost of Lynyrd Skynyrd's front man Ronnie Van Zant, but Fishing With Dynamite is gladly taking the reins of contemporary southern-fused rock. Give "Gone and Faded" a good listen and you'll know exactly what we mean. The band oozes Charlie Daniels with the use of violin as the primary solo instrument and kicks it up a notch with the rocking vibes of the band, The Outlaws. They also tone it down a bit and play some heartfelt country tunes on songs like "For Granted" and "Hank, I Hope You Were Right." Also, be sure to listen to the excellent slide guitar work on "Backwoods Man." Any fan of Charlie Daniels or Toby Keith will love "Let it Go" as this disc is filled with good old country rock.

"Take My Soul" by Shak (World/New Age Artist from Washington (WA))

Instrumentalist and songwriter, Shak, has written a very unique love story on his latest album, "Take My Soul." Although it is all instrumental, Shak does an excellent job depicting a couple's blossoming and sometimes tumultuous relationship through song. Listen to "A New Dawn," a track which screams of hope and curiosity, much like any new relationship. Along the way, the couple goes through extreme highs and lows, all documented through the creative mind of Shak. Sometimes the couple's relationship is doing well as heard on "Close to My Heart" and sometimes not, which "I Am Sorry" clearly portrays. Shak does an outstanding job composing his well written emotional feelings through melody and instrumentation about what most average couples all go through. If you are looking for a really interesting CD and you love instrumentals, then you won't be disappointed when you listen to "Take My Soul."

"God, Love & Mexico" by Game Six (Country Artist from Washington (WA))

The musical duo, Game Six, mixes country music with spiritual themes, tropical, folk, rock, Latin, and jazz sounds on "God, Love & Mexico." Their sound is primarily country, but the choices of instrumentation really throws each song in a different direction. For instance, "Shamrock Bar" has the classic pedal steel sound which is very much associated with country, but it is played more in a Hawaiian/Slack key form with a tropical drum groove underneath. "Bahia de Banderas" is also another unique track that features some eclectic Mexican sounds with a sweet brass section and the occasional Spanish sung vocals. "God, Love & Mexico" is a great CD for any Jimmy Buffet fan as it mixes country with tropical themes throughout.

"Experienced Zydeco Riders" by E.Z. Riders (Rock Artist from New York (NY))

The blues/rock band, E.Z. Riders, have released a throwback to the days of Humble Pie with their latest effort, "Experienced Zydeco Riders." Their roots are obvious, with raging Steve Marriott guitar riffs and gritty vocal tones reminiscent of early ZZ Top. "Witchy Woman" is by far the best track on the CD and is not an Eagles cover. Instead, it is an E.Z. Riders blues jaunt, filled with Lynyrd Skynyrd style slide guitar playing. That is really what this band and this disc are all about; strong and rocking guitars. If you crave more string bending guitar action, give a listen to songs like "I Should Have Quit You" and "Mean Mistreater" and you will get your fill. R&B gets an upbeat facelift with the fresh sounds of Mystic & Miranda. The duo's latest album, "Inside the Helix," sounds like what Toni Braxton would if she threw in some hip-hop. The hip-hop style is actually the coolest thing about Mystic & Miranda, as what could be just another female fronted R&B disc, is danceable and grooving at the same time. "Crying Game" features some of their finest vocal performances on the album. Together, they complement one another's voices quite well without overstepping each other. The musicality is also a treat as listeners get some good chunks of hip-hop beats and melodies on songs like "Fallin' (Heart is Callin')" and "Just Another Day." From the opening notes of the track "Ribbon in the Sky," you are instantly hooked in the musical mind of Criss Starr. His latest three-song EP, "On the Keys," is a wonderful compilation of smooth jazz numbers. Releasing the EP may prove to be a smart idea, as many jazz fans will be left with wanting to hear much more from Starr. Just give a listen to the atmospheric track "Break it Down," and you'll be sad there isn't a fourth, fifth or tenth track to listen to. Starr also gives a nod to his Minneapolis native influence Prince, on "Raspberry Beret." It is very clear that Prince has had a large effect on Starr's approach to songwriting, as his music is well flavored with R&B sounds. "Nondirectional" by Roch Lockyer (Jazz Artist from California(CA))

What do you get when you take a touch of smooth jazz and a heaping mound of tasty guitar chops? Well, the final result would very much sound like Roch Lockyer's latest effort "Nondirectional." "Words From Notes" by Triflemore (World Artist from Scotland)

Triflemore blends the guitar and voice into one beautiful sound on their latest disc, "Words From Notes." The talented duo is comprised of singer Susan Rhea, who hails from small-town America, and guitarist Owen Goudie from the Shetland Islands. Together, their collaborative talents combine to produce a touching CD, filled with throwback sounds of folk singers from the late 1960's. Rhea's voice is reminiscent of Joni Mitchell in all the best ways imaginable. Her voice is wonderful to hear and her eloquent tones can be heard on songs like "Goudfield" and "Perfect." Not to go unnoticed, Goudie's finger style guitar work is also exceptional in its own right. You can tell he has crafted his melodies around Rhea's vocals and intertwines them so one does not overshadow the other. A highlight of his playing can be heard on "Signal." "Aggression" by Rocboi (Rap Artist from Chicago, Illinois(IL))

Born and raised on the infamous south side of Chicago, rapper Rocboi dishes out his latest collection of material on "Aggression." Rocboi does an amazing job of fusing hip/hop with hints of R&B, all while staying true to his underground rap roots. With a rapping style similar to NAS, Rocboi flaunts his poetic word play on songs such as "Believe It" and "I Do It." Both tracks are full of brilliantly penned lyrics and fused with some soulful R&B instrumentation. He also delves into the world of sex with the very adult number, "Nasty." "Let The Trumpet Sound" by Kenneth Robinson and Dave Wagner (Classical Artist from Michigan(MI))

Kenneth Robinson (Trumpet) and Dave Wagner (Organ) present "Let The Trumpet Sound" featuring Grammy, Emmy, and Oscar winning guest performers. This all-star album features guest artists such as Cuban trumpet star, Arturo Sandoval; Principal Trumpet Emeritus of the Chicago Symphony, Adolph Herseth; Principal Trumpet of the Boston Symphony, Charles Schlueter; and more. The CD was recorded in a cathedral, which gives it a more natural and bigger sound. The musicianship on the CD is outstanding, nicely using dynamics to add emotion to the tracks. The structured voice of the trumpet is contrasted by the pipe organ as the instrument producing harmony, form, and texture. As several forms on this album are Sonata's, which is defined as a work for one or more instruments with several movements, the grandeur and magnificence between each instrument is a distinguishable feature. "Sonata a9: Sancti Polycarpi (featuring award winning guests)" is mastery and refinement at its best. The CD also includes an impressive track that is a classical-style tribute to the legendary Maynard Ferguson from alumnists and friends who perform on the CD. "Let The Trumpet Sound" moves the listener's passions with masterpieces performed in a reverberant cathedral setting and is a must have addition to your classical CD collection.
