“Valentine Parade” by Chancellorpink (Pop Artist from Pennsylvania(PA))

"Valentine Parade" by Chancellorpink is an intriguingly memorable adult underground rock collection. The very first thing that jumps out of these tunes is their experimental creativity and the effectively unusual vocal performances. Exploring a variety of tones, filters, and harmony and background arrangements, the vocals on "Valentine Parade" are quite diverse, unusual, and creative, and thereby hard to forget. Additionally, the musical backdrops of these tracks are equally as eclectic. The somewhat eerie "Red Wedding Dress" does a great job of demonstrating the creativity this band employs in both their music and vocal arrangements. "The Red Sea" and "She Came In Dreams" assumes a heavy rock edge, with the former radiating a strong dose of experimentation. If you enjoy artists such as David Bowie and creative music that is not afraid to challenge mainstream rules, you will enjoy this CD.

"Step Up 2 the Mike" by Just Mike is and eclectic marriage of beats and soul. It is definitely a hip-hop album, but what makes this album unique is it's attention to emotion - even in it's most bumping and flowing of states. "Across Time" by Kathy Moore (Jazz Artist from Michigan(MI))

"Across Time" brought to you by Kathy Moore will please your ears with an organic sound and beautiful vocals....with style. Kathy has one of those timeless voices. Very reminiscent of Karen Carpenter and of Joni Mitchell. Playful, but serene at the same time. The arrangements behind her vary nicely on this CD - Keeping to a folky, earth driven theme and inserting jazz, world and western feels. The musicianship and recording quality are both very high. "Blueberries" is a fun jazz number with playful vocals and a swinging jazz accompaniment. "Winter Sky" is an intimate piano/vocal piece that needs nothing more. "One Walk on the Beach" is tons of fun with a calming Island feel. If you enjoy folk or jazz music, or timeless female vocalists such as Joni Mitchell, you'll enjoy this CD.

"Smashing Preconceptions" by Stereo Volvo (Jazz Artist from Australia)

"Smashing Preconceptions" by Stereo Volvo is a Space-Dub instrumental album with a big arsenal. It combines Jazz, Afro -Jamaican, Dub, Ambient, Drum N' Bass and much more. It is well produced with tight beats, spacy sounds and very cool muted trumpet work. There is a constant mysticism to this album and it is floaty, but organic at the same time. Highlights include "Phoenix" (Wig-Out), which is a definite journey of a track with a grounded rhythm section and guitar and trumpet eerily talking to one another. "Gunya" is more up-tempo featuring the signature trumpet with a bowed-string sounding guitar coming at you. Pick this up if you like beats and ambience.

“Eugenics Movement: Culling Hip Hop” by Mr. Williams (Rap Artist from Ohio(OH))

"Eugenics Movement: Culling Hip Hop" by Mr. Williams is a very expressive example of lyrical hip-hop and poetry fused together. Combining Andre 3000's aptitude for situational hip-hop with Saul Williams' solid mastership of poetic-rap this CD moves to break barriers and stereotypes and transcends the formula of today's hip-hop. Even the beats, which could be compared to the jazzy synthesized creations of soul groups in the early 90s, are quick to tell the listener that this is not your usual brand of hip-hop. One of the most stand-out tracks is the jazzy "If I wanted To (Remix)" which makes a bold stand for nonconformity. Another of our favorites is the poignant "Please Don't" as both its lyrical and vocal content express emotional pain. Fans of conscious hip-hop and gritty spoken word will quickly become fans of "Eugenics Movement: Culling Hip Hop".

"Easy Street" by Chris Chesney (Pop Artist from United Kingdom)

Chris Chesney brings his veteran cross genre skills to the table in his album "Easy Street." The overall sound is reminiscent of those fun, feel good songs of the early 80's. Chris' lyrics are fun and his guitar-playing and songwriting are impressive. The arrangements are jazzy / bluesy in a bubbly sort of way and there's a lot of instrumentation and professional production in these tracks, to add a nice depth to the recording. There is also a cool mix of modern dance music thrown in as well. Finally, the female vocals are a nice complement to Chris's effective, raspy vocals. Highlights are "Cool Water," which starts out with a long, sexy instrumental segment that builds into a strong, sexy groove that nicely matches the lyrical theme of the song. "Time is Running Out" is another parcticularly noteworthy track with a brief synthesizer intro that builds into a full groove and a memorable chorus with strong female backing vocals and keyboard counter part. If you are a fan of catchy songs with a strong groove, that cross rock, pop, and even R&B, you'll enjoy this CD.

"Sub Sonic/Super Sonic" by Tom (Adult Rock Artist from South Africa)

"Sub Sonic/Super Sonic" by Tom is experimental big beat rockabilly (leaning toward "Gothabilly") complete with grit and grime. This CD is filled with heavy distortion mixed with a vintage guitar sound overlaying synthetic drum sounds. A variety of guitar, synthesizer, random sounds and drum sounds are used in the creative production and songwriting on this CD. This is definitely not formulaic mainstrem music. The arrangements are fresh, experimental and daring. Highlights are "I'm Going to Build a House," which introduces a synth element and symbolic, spoken word lyrics.
